Two duck hunters wade through flooded timber

A Calling – The Raggio Custom Calls Story

A Story of waterfowl tradition, craftsmanship, and life-threatening disease

Josh Raggio is a custom duck call maker in Raymond, Mississippi. Josh grew up duck hunting with his father, Ronnie, who has been an avid waterfowl and competition duck caller for many years.

Ronnie instilled a passion for waterfowl hunting in Josh from a young age. Josh remembers his dad practicing on a duck call everyday around their home and attending calling contests with his dad. Ronnie enjoys telling stories about taking Josh to the World Duck Calling Championship in Stuttgart, Arkansas.

When Ronnie was diagnosed with a life-threatening liver disease, it shook their whole family and Josh wasn’t sure if he’d ever get to share a duck blind with his father again. The series of events that began to unfold, inspired Josh to leave his corporate job and pursue call-making full time.

A chance meeting at a Delta Waterfowl banquet in 2017 began the journey to Ronnie having life-saving surgery and a long recovery that would end with father and son sharing a blind once again. Watch the inspiring story here on Endless Migration and see how none of this may have ever been possible without a deep passion for waterfowl and a duck call.

Josh is making calls one at a time at his shop in Mississippi.
